p.1 #1 · Box Elder Peak

Though clouds were moving in, early morning sun was lighting up the mountains. This is in the Silver Flat area in the Wasatch from last Thursday.

Hey Craig, the peak looks great, the sky is awesome, I just wish it wasn't framed on the right with almost barren tree... While the framing on the left is pretty cool, especially with the red leaves. There is so much going on with that mountain, I would like to be able to see it, and let it stand on it's own. In this composition, if I were to do anything, I would crop the right side to get rid of the branches. I do like the contrast with the red on the left front with the multiple colors in the background...

So let's see just the peak... did you shoot any of just that?

Jim,

I found few openings in the thick forest. I do like to "frame" my pictures, but did wish the tree on the right had more leaves. I actually thought of maybe cloning some more in. Maybe it would be best if that side was cropped out entirely.

I did take a unobstructed shot of the peak from the wide open Silver Flat. I posted that picture under "Ideal Conditions" two days ago.

Thanks for your comments, Craig

Hey Craig,

Framing can be cool, and I like it because of the color on the left. Maybe cloning some leaves (or a tree) on the right would be good. You could try cropping the one on the right out, not sure what that would do to the balance of the shot.
