One of the things I love most is just getting off the beaten path some with my camera, and Wild Basin is certainly one of those areas, a section of Rocky Mountain National Park that I imagine most aren't even aware exists! It is very 'intimate', and often, no one else is there except yourself.
This shot was difficult to take, bracketing several times but but the light, as good as it is was also metering hell to work with. Overcast with slight sunlight creeping through now and then. I had an idea for this shot in my head, and not having a soft focus lens, I went ahead and used Nik Effects in PS to achieve the desired result, and then cropped to square format.
Sweet stuff with those colors. The dreamy look does look nice, so that was a good choice. I am not sure about the bridge support coming into the shot like that. I would have to say I would rather it not be in the scene. Because of the angle of it, if you crop right above it, I think it's still a very cool scene.
Next time I am up that way, I will have to check out this Wild Basin, it sounds really cool!
