p.1 #1 · Breaking the Fall

NOTICE: Pathetic bid for sympathy post.

I fell on my stairs last night but managed to break the fall with my nose, which now looks funny. <sigh>

So these incredible clouds kept taunting me till I decided to ignore my throbbing face and go shoot. Unfortunately, I couldn't move quick enough to get into place either time.

I was almost there each time, just couldn't get in place before the clouds moved on, they were going so fast. Those are the breaks....

Hey Sharon,

I hope your nose is okay! You will have to "break" the habit of stopping your falls with your nose!

I do like both of these. While you may have felt you were too late in each shot, not having been there, all I can do is enjoy these cool looking clouds! One suggestion for #1, clone out that tiny bit of blue sky along the upper edge towards the left.

I wish you a speedy recovery, Sharon!!!
I love the second one. The clouds are just perfect and I like the warm tones of the foregound.

Ouch, sorry to hear about your fall but glad it isn't worse.
These are both good and by being late I presume you meant to a specific location. These are both good and I think the nod would go to the 2nd because of the more pleasant contrast between the sky and the foreground. The skies in both are terrific.
Take it easy on the nose!

Been there, done that! I feel for ya, Sharon.
I really like both of these....the 1st for it lovely, even soft light, and wonderful sky....the 2nd for the more sharply contrasted sky and land, and wonderful sky!
Beautiful images. Way to work through the pain

Thanks everyone. Yes, that's what I meant by late, Randy. The skies were moving too fast for me to get in place.

I am sorry about your accident. I wouldn't advise to fall again only for getting another pair of such beautiful images, Sharon Get well soon!

That's putting your nose to the grindstone! (a stupid american expression). I don't see that these images were taken late. They are really nice.

Hi Sharon,

Too bad about the fall, I hope you feel better real soon.

I like the clouds in number 2. Good work.

Wow - those are some stunning skies. Sorry you didn't have time to pick your spot. I know how that is. I hope your nose feels better! Take care of yourself!

Thanks, everybody. I must say that breaking your nose isn't much fun. At least it wasn't my neck!

Sharon, hope you're feeling better, but no sympathy from me -- not when you get captures like that. Fantastic patterns and compositions, with lovely color.

I think your pictures are very nice. Good job Sharon. The clouds in the second are very nice.

I happened to break my nose last year at this time playing basketball with some friends. It was difficult to look through the viewfinder with my broken, swollen nose. I hope you heal quickly and had no lasting problems. Please be careful.

Gordon.

Hello Sharon,

These look fine to me - perhaps a slight contrast in the skies, but that's just my opinion. Nothing like a dynamite sky to take one's mind off of trivial things such as pain .

Now if I can just get something to take my mind off my nose being crooked now!!

Thank you both.

I have, Jim. The swelling made for a strangely shaped nose. Looks better today.

Couldn't help but salivate over these...........especially the second one. Cloudstreets, as they are called, are like a free ride when paragliding!

Going out on a limb here ... the first one takes my fancy. The sky and foreground balance out nicely. Nice one, and get well soon.

I have never tried that. Do you have to get someplace high to start? If you do, you're out of luck on Nantucket. It is wicked flat.

Mirza, those clouds in the first shot were phenomenal. I knew I wasn't up to running in sand to try to get it but I tried, anyway. I knew that there would be other great skies and light on other days, but I couldn't resist trying to get this one.

Doug, thanks for the sympathy. It does help.
