p.1 #1 · Kings Canyon @ Night

I am going through some very old pictures, and found a few from Kings Canyon @ night, back from 2004. Taken with the 1Ds at night, it was bound to be full of problems, such as the pretty terrible banding. But in a way I still like them. You can see how the light changed over the period of twilight all the way to complete darkness. EXIF is embedded for those who want to know the exposure details.

2nd and 3rd for me. Some of the best night-time shots I've seen. The moon-lit rocks and trees are beautifully rendered. And amazing pin-point stars, even at 59 seconds!

I am really stunned at the quality of work that has been shown on FM the last few days. I have to agree with Barry, these i consider among the best night shots I have seen. Excellent work!

These are terrific Stan. Kings Canyon and Sequoia National parks are both great places. In the early 70's we lived in Visalia so these parks were just a hop skip and jump away. I particularly light the night shots with the stars as you would actually view them. Well done.

Hello Stan,

Good low light work. I particularly like the last one. The relatively open foreground allows the eye to 'ride' the verticals into the star filled sky.
