p.1 #1 · GBH Vs. SMB, a RTH, and a Duck

There's a nature preserve center a couple miles from my office. I got to see this one last week, while it was "fishing". But just after it's first catch, the tractor came by with a trailer full of screaming kids (field trip), and it took off. I came back the next day & he was back...hunting for small mouth bass.

On another day, I saw this one circling in a vacant church field I was passing by. I stopped and walked up as it landed and found a spot. As I got closer, it never seemed affected by my presence.

Finally, I'll conclude with a simple common duck...

Migara...
Thank you! I was lucky to get a second chance at capturing him...and decent lighting to work with. They're so much easier to shoot than (white) Egrets!

Jennifer...
Welcome to FM! Thanks for looking & for the kind words!

HI Matt,

Love the color in the reflections and BGs, oh, the shots of the BGH chowing SM bass is pretty cool too RTH are a strange breed, they either shun your presence completely or are surprisingly cooperative. You got on of the cooperative ones
Beautiful color in that duck - quack!

Emmmm that's a Blue gil.. Nice job on all of these... I would like the duck better with legs and feet but the detail is top notch.

Thanks guys! About the fish (Chad)...think so? I looked at the head & thought bass. This lake has a lot of em. You're probably right...
As for the duck, I'd agree with you, but that shot is pretty much full frame. I only cropped out a little of a branch on the right side. I just liked the colors...
Thanks again!!

Very nice series Matt,

like Chad I'd liked the feet & legs in the shot of the duck - - but color & detail is fantastic.

Fishing series if great.

Lil...
Thank you for the comments! I'm anxious to get back to the swamp where I found the duck. But next time, the 400 is going to have to stay home. I'll bring a shorter lens & maybe get another shot. I'm hoping the woodies show up soon!

Brenton...
Thanks for looking & your compliments! I was probably something to see when I got close to the RTH. I was literally trying to scare him off after I got those shots. I was hoping to get some flight shots, but I couldn't get him to leave the perch. I ended up giving up & going back to work.

Dan...
Thank you!! I appreciate it!

Very nice set, Matt. Great timing in # 3. The whole fishing series is great, though. I also like the last shot: beautiful lighting, colors and detail.

Thanks you guys.... I appreciate your thoughts & comments! The fishing ones were fun, but I think the new guy's Egret blows mine away!
