Ant, these are some great HIF shots... DUDE amazing.. did you crop much or were they full frame? I also was wondering about IS on or off... I was starting to experiment with this off, I normally have it on all the time.. I read some feel the IS lacks focus speed, but I never would of thought this... Well anyway.. Sorry I missed the first page on this one... I was kinda busy taking like 800+ photos
NO excuse for hitting the second page Chad............. Just tragic .......
These are probably 80% of the frame >> Cropped some off of the sides but darn near FF. I did have the 1.4 on though so that helped/hurt
IS ON and is always on but I've been thinking of trying some off. I think it's probably better with Hand Holding at 700mm > But for the girls who use a tripod it would probably be of benefit.
Great photos Ant, count 1 , 2 and 3 as my favourites. Wonderful pictures for grab shots, you must have everything ready when you travel around. I usually record a blur when I try this.
Well Rob my whole life is a blur but this was one of the few clear moments I've had lately
Just excellent shots Ant. I wish I could get some BIF shots like these. Maybe now that I have the shorter lens I can hand hold it on the Bush Hawk and try this. My 500 was just too much for me to hold up any more.
Sorry to hear about the loss of your 500 Terry. I'm sure that wasn't an easy lens to part with............. But the cash received can always go into something just as fun
Bush hawk seems to be a popular choice for some of teh Wildlife shooters. I just dont' see how it is of benefit over hand holding just the camera / lens.......... Maybe I"m missing something
Very, very nice indeed. Number 1 is perfect.
No.2 and 3 might benefit from a bit looser crop so that the birds don't feel boxed in.
However, that's a matter of visual preferences and taste.
I was going in close for a differnt tighter look
Thanks PetKal Glad you liked the photos. If there were clouds or something in the background / sky other than just BLUE I wouild have cropped differently >> but it's just big ole blue boring sky
Stumbled onto these shots by pure accident and thought I would leave a comment but since page 3 has not been achieved yet I was reluctant to think anything important was inside but I opened up the thread anyway, Some great shots in here Ant, Nice and crisp and great colors

Well Ron by now you should know all of my posts are sub par and not important..... I"m just lucky their are nice people with poor vision on the forum to comment on my photos. I'm glad your visually challenged too
Nothing like being in the right place at the right time, I bet when you looked at those in the LCD you crapped your pants, oooooooooohhh!! sweeeeeeet Nice job Ant I love these Steve
Thanks Steve >> NO crap involved LMAO . Hey that's a change
If that's a grab shot, keep grabbin'! Wow, great photos Ant! Dang, I need to get back on the raptor hunt. Time to drag the gear down to the club and nab some red-shoulder hawk photos...
