just sharing. saw this on fatwallet, bought one and received. couldn't believe it.
I know they are getting ready to come out with the sd15 but that is too good of price. received the camera today from www.cameta.com
Cameta really seems to get some fantastic deals on Sigma stuff. They've been selling the 24-60 f/2.8 EX for about $200 less than anyone else for the last 8 months or so. I got mine for $189. They've got a friendly staff too...I lost my invoice when I needed lens service and they faxed it to me within 3 minutes. Good company to deal with.
i wonder how they can sell this stuff so cheap.
I also saw their sigma 18-200 lenses are way below cost along with
a nikon 18-105 and olympus fl-50r. they are like hundreds below others.
amazing

Gray-market, at least in the case of a Sigma 15-30 I bought from them.
I wonder what the new, barely upgraded, SD15 is going to sell for? In this competitive environment, they are going to have a tough time selling it for $1500 or so (the original price of the SD14). With the SD14, which is for most purposes essentially the same, selling for $439, and eventually around the same or less in the used market, it going to be tough for the SD15. Quite frankly, I would not be surprised if the SD15 does not appear and they wait until they complete development on the next body (and Sd16, perhaps?), because Sigma might just loose their shirt if they produce and market the SD15.

My 24-60 was definitely USA, not gray market. Their site also says that everything they sell is non gray-market.
Yeah, that's what they said about the 15-30, but it didn't have the correct warranty card or s/n. I posted about this a few years back, so no need to repeat the whole rant. They were also selling "demo" Canon 20D's, described as having a full US-factory warranty, and when I called Canon to verify I was told that was BS, too, and Canon knew of no such thing. They've been scammers, at least to some extent, but maybe they've cleaned up they're act a bit. I couldn't say. The feedback left for them on eBay is exemplary.
The feedback on Reseller Ratings is top notch too (approaching B&H levels). I know my 24-60 was fine because I just had warranty service done on it...had the 4 year warranty card.
I talked to Sigma about the SD15 about a week ago....The price point will probably be around the D90 range....but they do not have a final on what the camera will have with it...I asked about video..they stated "we can not coment on that feature at this time." I also asked if it would have the same body style....and was given a yes..they are trying to keep the cost down when they release it...at least what I was told...
I Bought an SD14 from Cameta and it was US market....no problems....I checked with Sigma...and they are an authorized distributor.....
Doesn't Sigma have a whole bunch of lenses in all mounts including the Sigma mount.
How limited would it get if you purchased a sigma SA mount ? What would be lacking ?
While Sigma lenses may not be as good as Canon or Nikon or Olympus lenses, for the price, they are easily a good deal. Primes are very good and a couple of their zooms are not too shabby either.

But there in lies the problem. The only real reason to select the SD14 (or Sd15) is if you are particularly enamored with the image quality of the sensor (the rest of the camera is pretty lame, comparatively). But then you are forced to uses modestly priced lenses that, for the most part (and in customer perceptions), are lacking in the image quality they can provide. IMHO, it's a product concept inconsistency that leaves them in search of customers.
Some of the nikkor primes are killer on the SD14....I am going out next week to shoot with my 800mm F5.6 with the SD14....can't wait...
The only issue I have had buying sigma SA mounts is the fact you have to do it online...you really can not walk into a store to view the lens or try it out....on the SD14....What I do is try out the comperable lens on my Nikon D300...if I like it I order it...But Jman is right...some of the Sigma lenses are very nice....and well priced...You cannot beat some of the nikon lenses....and that is why I have my adapter....
The SD14 with the 18-200mm OS is a nice walk around combo as long as you have ok to good light.
One of the problems I am having with my SD14's is finding lenses for it. I am simply amazed how hard it is to find a Sigma lens for a Sigma camera from mainstream suppliers.
All the lenses I have acquired for my SD14's have come from major turd-hunting on the net.

There's some serious holes in Sigma's lens line because their line is designed around competing with CaNikon, not as a lens line for the SA mount cameras.
No fast primes longer than 50mm and no 35mm primes at all are the most glaring holes. Their zooms offer a full selection though.
Frankly, you can get a better camera for the same money from any of the other brands and still have access to the good Sigma lenses.

I would guess that the SD15 wouls sell for around $ 800.00 or so. I always thought that the $ 1600.00 release price of the SD14 was way too high. Hopefully, the SD15 will have a higher resolution LCD and it may also have faster AF. Since the processing engine is improved, noise levels may also be improved. We'll have to see.
Sigma's DSLR business is a drop-in-the-bucket for them. They won't lose their shirt on the SD15, not even their socks. They are primarily a lens manufacturer and they make their money on that while they try to grow the camera end of their business. They would have already lost their shirts on the SD9, SD10, & SD14 if this were the case because all are low volume niche cameras.

Every Sigma lens that's available for Nikon and Canon mounts is available in Sigma mount. The problem is finding someone who stocks them, as you have found. I'm fortunate in that I don't live far from Cameta Camera. Another poster in this thread had a bad experience with them but my experience has been excellent. My first purchase from them was over 24 years ago and I've been buying since. I suggest you contact them along with B&H and Adorama, they should be able to help you with the lenses you need.
