I shoot lots and lots of shallow dof images. 35L,135L,and 85L wide open. The 5DII sounds interesting but having 19 cross type autofocus sensors in the 1Ds3 I currently use is a must for the way I shoot.
If all I shot was landscapes and never needed to track or get rapid composition and dead on low dof autofocus the 5D *might* do. They are not in the hands of users in the field yet. Even with beta testers its truly all speculation.

If you don't need video & 3200 or higher iso then get 1ds2....
...or a small form factor, or focus adjustment, or live view... ON the other hand, if you do need full pro quality AF and weathersealing and 100% viewfinder and if you usually/always use a vertical grip... then the 1DsII will be a good bet.
The OP's question presupposes he could make either work, but not enough details are given to support giving advice. So respondents are stuck just throwing out battling specs.
1) Smaller body (advantage or disadvantage)
2) Same frame rate
3) 1dsII has better AF
4) 5d mark II will have better IQ and high ISO performance
5) Both are weathersealed
6) 100% viewfinder (1ds2) vs 98%
7) 5d2 is UDMA compatible and has a better buffer
8) HD Video... from the 5d
9) Approximately same price now
if you don't need tank like build quality, dual cards or the Af, 5D II has many advantages over the 1Ds II. I agonized over the 1Ds II or 5D and decided I'd had enough of the crappy little screen of my 1D II, heavy battery, and the 1Ds II was still too slow for my use. If they had made a 1Ds IIn with 5fps, 2.5" screen, faster and bigger buffer, improved high ISO noise, then I would have grabbed one.
I'm not going to make a decision now....
I'll wait until full review comes out on 5D MKii.
I saved money for a long time, and I don't want to make a haste decision.
One quick question...
Many people claim that the IQ of 5dMKII is better than 1DsMKii.
Is this solely based on Canon's claim that 5dMKii equals or betters 1DsMKiii?

Canon also claimed a 1 to 1,5 stop advantage in high ISO for the 50D over the 40D. If you want to know for sure... wait until the 5D2 hits the shelves

I agree, high ISO thing is not the same as IQ thing.
I have crossed the bridge, and bought a used 1Ds MKII.
The main reason was most of my glasses are manual focusing lenses.
I didn't want to go through with mirror shaving again with 5DMKII.
I'll use 1Ds II for awhile, and if the review of 5DMKII is too good to dismiss, then I'll switch it later on.
I always wanted to try 1Ds series camera.
I think I'm going to enjoy the 100% VF very much.
I recently bought 24-105L and 300/4L IS, and I'll enjoy the better AF of 1DsII.
I only know about 1Ds MKII through what I read here and other reviews on the net.
I really like my 5D, but I always wanted to try 1Ds series...sort of dream camera for me.
Did I make a right choice by choosing 1dsii over new 5dmkII?
I need a reassurance.
The more you will use it, the more you will appreciate it. You will discover lot of small things that are just better, right place, etc and discover it is a production reliable tool. Not to say a 5D is a toy, but just another world. And in a few months you won't want to use anything else !
1Ds series is quite nice, but I sold the 1Ds III and ordered a 5D MkII. The 5D has the ability which the 1Ds series couldnt compete, the ability to go light. Lol, before every trip, I always decide which camera would be used, and I grab the 5D 95% of times. Carrying the 1Ds and few lenses is just a pain in the a**e for me.
I currently use grip with my 5D, so the weight of 1Ds MKII is not a critical issue.
I've probably read most of the reviews on web, and like someone said in his review, It'll be my privilege to use the 1Ds series camera.
