p.1 #1 · 16x20 cost

A 16x20 ordered thru H&H costs approximately $16.00..does anyone have any idea how much it costs to print a standard lustre print on an Epson 3800 or 4880?
If one plans on printing a lot of 16x20 is it cost effective to purchase one of the Epsons?

Thanks

Rod

It depends on the paper you'd use, but I think most estimates come out between $6 and $8. Lustre would be a cheaper paper, so I'd put it on the lower side. Also, the price to print on the 4880 would drop even lower if you used the 220mL carts, but that would only be useful if you printed enough to use them in a year.

That said, there are other reasons to print on your own printer : personalized control from start to finish, better quality control, etc.

Inkjet Art has an spreadsheet calculator on their site that will give you a fairly close approximation of ink and paper cost per square foot.

We found it to be cheaper than $5/print on Epson Premium Luster Photo Paper 260 with the larger (220ml) tanks.

I think the paper from red river paper dot com is about $2.00 per sheet and ink might double that to $4. Pretty cheap.
