... cheapy flash cards or even the joe demb flip-it is better for on the hot-shoe flash work.

I have the joe demb flip-it and I love it so much. However, I borrowed a fellow photographer's LSII clear and loved it in certain situations. I feel that the flip-it works in certain situations, but not in others, and the same goes for the lightsphere. No problem having both in the camera bag. Pennies compared to what we spend on lenses.

good info and demos, I have a bounce device that would give similar results if/when needed, but nice to know maybe I can make another one myself.... or more if needed when I get more flash units.

Cut the guys some slack and read the poll. Neither isn't an optional or requested response. They may be overpriced pieces of plastic, but I like mine (and they are relatively cheap compared to lenses)

I seem to get better results with the clear. I use the silver insert to throw extra light in dark spaces. Of course, I'm not playing with the flash power, just letting the 40D/580 EXI do their stuff.

I may need to try that...the chrome insert. I had a tricky lighting situation yesterday which is making me want to work harder on my lighting.

I agree, the results just aren't anything special, too much light loss, and too awkward. A simple bounce tool like the Flip-It, Lumiquest Big Bounce or their softbox is much nicer for a wedding. I also just got a Honl 8" snoot which makes a really nice bounce card as well.

I recommend (as always) the DiffuseiT.

EDIT: Having just looked on the site, I notice they now do a smaller version as well! Cool.
