p.1 #1 · bumblebees in fall light

Fall is a bit of a bummer for quantity and variety of insects, but I do love the morning light this time of year. XTI, 60mm, 1/160 F10, diffused flash. C and C always appreciated

Very good shots Amy! I think I prefer 2 and 3 for the better compositions but all are great.Beautiful light and detail in all of them.

These are, indeed, lovely Amy. Lighting is VERY nice. Prefer 2 & 3 for compositions. Well done.

Impressive shots Amy. Haven't been able to get any bumble bee shots myself this year... They move too fast for me!

Many thanks, all. The ambient lighting was really in my favor, and it was still cool enough that the bee wasn't moving too fast. If I was good enough to have a "style", this is the kind of effect I would like to get repeatedly.

fantastic series of shots, Amy. Pics make you look at them for a while to take it all in.

Excellent images Amy -looks like that EF-S 60mm is in very capable hands!

Have you considered rotating the second frame 180 degrees and cropping out the distracting bits at the corners?...

Thanks, John.

I struggle with these upside down bees...and I did not try that frame 180. I'll give it a go - thanks
Crop!! Did you suggest cropping? I just dropped my glass of wine!!

Well done Amy. I know from experience that bumblebees can be extremely difficult to get nice clean, sharp shots of because they never stop moving(busy as a bee). You captured these well.

Thanks, Jim. Very kind. must admit that it was a bit chilly, so the bee was moving rather lethargically.
