Buy a USB card reader. Its way faster than cabling the computer to the camera.

I have been using USB card reader or I insert the card directly onto the computer or monitor; my monitor has slots for memory cards. I have never used the cable supplied with the camera.

I use the USB cable all the time, and for these reasons:

> My card reader is not very fast, so doesn't yield much speed gain over
the USB cable.

> Although careful with inserting CF cards into the camera, I don't want
to risk getting a bent pin on the card slot unless I'm getting enough speed
benefit to make it worth it. The thin pins are the weak point in CF card design.

Most of my shoots are done tethered to the computer and write to the card and hard drive. Otherwise, I use a firewire reader.

If I dont have to remove something that could, even in the most rarest circumstances, damage my gear, I wont.

I just use the USB cable.

I have yet to be convinced to spend money on a card reader. My images upload quickly enough and I always recharge my battery every time I use my camera anyway. I can't think of any reasons I would buy one. I can spend the $20 on tennis balls.

the nice thing about a card reader is that it doubles as a usb pen drive with a card in it.. i use it to transfer files all the time between work and home on my smaller cards. and they're what.. 15 bucks? card reader forsure

If I don't shoot tethered (Studio) then I use a card reader and either ACDSee Pro 2.5 to transfer, or if I'm shooting events then EPS 2 handles the transfers.

Card reader. Canon, for some unknown reason doesn't set the cards to be viewed as mountable drives.

I use a card reader because that way you can continue shooting with your camera (if you're doing a wedding or something). Also I hear it minimises risks of a surge from your PC destroying your camera... not sure on this one :P but the card reader is faster than normal connection.
