p.1 #1 · Someone knows how to do this? (Picture)

Hi

I was experimenting with my stroboscope mode on my 550ex flash recently, with some cool results, but than I came across this image (link below)
I have no idea how this was shot. Could someone tell me how to do this?
It might be 2-3 images photoshoped, but I like to believe that this can be achieved in a single frame.

Image

Thanks!

It looks like each image was done with a long shutter exposure and with a flash at the beginning or end. Probably a 1 second exposure with decent light that gives the trails, with a flash to freeze the pose.

I saw a picture using that basic technique in a photography book yesterday...but without the photoshopping. I think it's definitely multiple slow exposures blended together and then a couple of regular ones for the targeted details.

I'm guessing here but I agree with Eric. Looks like some 2nd curtain flash. Flash fires as just before the shutter closes verses when it opens so you get the blurred motion leading up to the frozen image. Several images in there so maybe some 1st curtain too? Beautiful image and great subject for this effect.
