p.1 #1 · Retro Effect for PHOTO BOOTH

I'm in process of putting together a photo booth for a party. I have seen a couple digital photo booths that take images using a "Retro Effect" that is a kind of vignette and contrast boost which looks really nice.

I was wondering if any of you have an idea how to set that up on camera - since the software I am using doesnt allow for any post processing effects. I can pretty well adjust the contrast, but the vignette I am having a hard time with.

Any thoughts? Or does some one know of a photo booth software that allows post processing effects?

Thank you for your time!

You can mechanically vignette the picture by blocking some light from the edges of the lens. Try cutting a circular hole in cardboard or black paper, slightly smaller than the front element of the lens, and attaching it in front of the lens. You can vary the vignetting effect by changing the size and distance of the hole from the front of the lens. If you want a softer edge than you can get with a circular hole, make a hole with a many-pointed star shape (i.e. take a circular hole and cut lots of narrow, closely spaced triangles into the rim) for a more gradual transition.
