i dread using flash probably because i dont know how to use it well. i use a reflector when outdoors but i find it limiting at times. looking at ur pics, i might be willing to reconsider on my stance regarding flashes.
i might experiment with some of ur technique ed. btw, is there a difference bw a speedlite transmitter (st-e2) and a pocket wizard? which do u prefer?
I have to 2nd the idea of using radios with assistants/2nd shooters. I own 8 2-way radios from my sports event photography business and they come in very handy during weddings.
Duuuuuude! This set is so awesome its freakish. I love, love, LOVE the contrast and colors you create. And I think I know that tree--if I'm not mistaken to take that shot you had to have been hanging over a cliff!
we're using 2 lights BOTH off camera. totally strobist/flash flavor style. =)

Ah, I've noticed in some images you have a speedlight on your belt system with a grip it looks like (as seen in this thread). I take it that is the second off camera light?

i prefer to use both for different situations. i know my answer is very vague, but each location is very different from one to another. of course, i do find myself going back to old habits when i'm outside in bright sunny days with my PW.
there's a huge difference in how one works with the other. check out:
Your work is so inspiring! Would love to see you guys in action! Your lighting is simply amazing. I think you should teach a seminar next time you are here in Hawaii...I would love to see Your team, Shawn Starr and Frank Amodo all together ...just dreaming!
You are one classy 'tog, Ed. Your lighting is impeccable, but I'm really inspired by the energy and enthusiasm in your approach to your shots--and that shows through so much in your images.
