I have this lens on order. It was supposed to be here with the 5D2, but I have not heard even a whisper. Very depressing.

Cheer up, Kim......things happen in life for a reason. The creator seldom gives us more grief than we can bear.
In the interim I am sure you can use 24mm FL on your good 16-35L II.

You are right, Canon usually comes through with some excellent products - eventually.

I am getting hooked on primes. The 16-35mm II is a bit challenged with a 21 MP camera.

Meanwhile I'm using my 24L I and it's totally awesome... don't even know why I'm wasting money on this new vapor lens.

An employee of a major camera store in Toronto tells me that they might get the new lens by Xmas, but he was not sure. What he did know was that the lens was priced $1,830 CAN (at the present time) and that they had 5 preorders total.

Assuming that I sell my condition LN and well performing 24L MkI for $900 US net, I'd have to fork out additional $735 US (local sales tax included) in order to upgrade to the MkII lens. That I am certainly not going to do even if the new lens turns out to be significantly better performing, which obviously remains to be seen, especially the "significantly" part. Still, very curious to see comparison shoots of MkI vs.MkII.

I'll try to get a chance to play with it but I'm pretty flat out with travel over the next couple of weeks. What do you think I can get for the old 24mm which is only about 8 months old?
