unless the D700 sales and the migration it helped to attract and then the attendant extra lens sales ends up more than making up for the loss to the D3, which MIGHT be the case.
That's always possible, but I doubt it. It assumes that photogs would be buying a much cheaper body, and then buying more lenses than they would otherwise. Why could that be assumed?
If they were trying to save money in the first place, and they know what they need, why would they buy more?
This thread is dead. Time to dump and create a couple of new "masters":
"5D2 First impressions" For hands on experience with AF, image quality, RAW conversion issues, how long it takes to get a RAW to "click in" at 100% magnification in DPP, etc.
"5D2 Shipping and Receiving" For those people who seem compelled to tell someone that they have/have not received a camera.
This way, we can concentrate on the matters that matter!

Has anyone received a kit that's missing the warranty card for the lens? I only have the card for the body in my kit
I'd contact my dealer if that were the case- it's something omitted that's supposed to be supplied.
Does anyone think the battery prices will go down after a couple of weeks, once third parties jump on the bandwagon and Canon makes more? 100$ seems like a ton of money for a battery. That thing better last a while!
Doubtful, at least at the start; these are "smart" batteries. Seems as though they built several features into the camera and batteries to prevent third party imitations from working.

Adorama is already listing them for $79.95 ea. (But currently out of stock, of course.)

I received mine today. I ordered 9/17 2-day shipping. It shipped last Friday and arrived early.
I ordered the body early 9/17, and zero communication from Amazon. I have pinged them, and they refuse to give me any information. The status on the order has not changed one bit.

There's a serial number encoded on each battery so that the camera remembers which battery has how much power left.

Amazing.
Same here bro, I call and in and they refuse to talk about it. I say other companies are shipping and that say "we are unable to provide you any more information at this time."

Actually, Canon USA doesn't care about the warranty card. They only want to see the sales receipt. Even if you have the warranty card, they'll still demand the sales receipt, and if you have the sales receipt they won't ask for the warranty card.
They just want to know when you bought it and from whom.
