just noticed this while looking at the CHKD P&S raw hackers site

Seems that the 40d is in for a few hacks to unlock micro adjust and contrast AF in liveview plus already some video from it.

Look at the perfect white balance in that movie clip in what I think is incandescent light. What happens to it then when you start doing it was it was designed for - taking photos? It always turns out way too warm...

I would love an MA hack, just as long as it doesn't cause my 40D's AF motor to go ballistic.

? there's no AF motor in any of the canons,there in the lens

Sorry, whatever mechanism the 40D uses for AF. Canon has already replaced mine.

Why would they say "Possible extra functionality" and "Already somewhat working..." and have a video example?

Looks like it working pretty good to me.

yep that will be a bit of a minus.

Maybe they could get it to record in Black and White only and we could add music later and it could be calle the Silent movie mode

I'm assuming this is done by opening the shutter like live view? Would this kill the shutter or the sensor in the long run due to it being open so long?
