Cool stuff here. Must have been a fun trip! On #1, I know it's not easy to decide where to cut a tree off on the edge of a frame, but I would go for a tighter crop as you have a clear space between the cut off tree on the right and the next group of trees. #2 is a really cool fire shot, I would clone out the leaves poking into the shot at the very top.
Thanks, i dont think ive seen another shot like it i must admit. I think it only worked well because of the absolute clarity of the flames and even colouring of the flames.
Im getting a 100mm Macro soon so i hope to be able to do more "close up" fire photography.
2 is very cool - if you try it again I would make the fire less centred and get a big tree away from the fire. And skip the house ? on the left. This has tonnes of potential.
1 is okay but a bit centred on sunset. For me there needs to be more features.
Thankyou folks, i dont get to shoot many sunsets living in the bottom of a steep valley so its good to get advice for when i do get a chance occasionally.
Scott, the house on the left is actually an invidiual lodge, both of these pictures were taken at Ndutu lodge, where each guest/couple has their own semi-detached lodge. I shall bare your other feedback in mind for if i get the chance to shoot this kind of thing again.
Thanks everyone, the images are going to dissapear for a bit as i am reorganizing my flickr account which means deleting a lot of images, putting borders round them + re-uploading. Should have them up in the next few days.
