Nature is quite something, isn't it? What an absolutely lovely critter. Great job, Phil. Lighting is really nice; 4 and 5 are very good compositions IMHO.

Amazing, crystal clear shots. I'd never heard of this critter before, so thanks for the introduction. The color is great in all shots. My preference is actually the first one.

woow that's one incredible looking caterpillar right there, like Kenj8246 says "Nature is quite something" and this just proves it. It just blows me away that nature can come up with such nutty creations and get away with it
Brilliant captures though Goldenorfe, thanks for posting them......

Great shots of amazing larvae, Its a few years since I reared these but was well worth the effort, the adults are truly spectacular, especially in flight.

Shot #1 is such an amazing capture of this creature. It reminds me of a dachshund for some odd reason - brilliant!!

I've been lucky enough to see the adults on the wing here in the UK - they don't always arrive in the midlands, but have never seen the caterpillar, or even a half-decent photo. Not until today anyway Lovely shots.

I love these pictures! I love macro photography and I am looking for the right lens to get the pictures that I want. I was thinking on getting the Canon 100mm macro but I am not sure if I would get the same closeup as you have in these pics. So I was wondering what lens you used for these pictures. Thank You and can't wait to see the pics from when these will change!

Just so I understand, when you say "focus stacked" do you mean you took multiple pics focusing on different areas and then layered them in lets just say photoshop? As you can tell I am new to digital photography. I really appreciate your help. Thanks so much.
