p.1 #1 · Bikini Shoot C&C

A woman asked me to take shots of her for Jet Magazine's Beauty of Week. After several failed attempts to finally get a time scheduled, we finally did it tonight. The only issue was, she was late. Very late. I wanted to shoot during the magic hour (between 6:30-7:30) Well, she finally showed up at my house at 7:15. We still had to make a 15 minute drive to the beach. I felt rushed the whole time. I missed a lot of things I normally pick up on. I shot outside of my preferred camera settings. I debating whether or not to shoot her again in better light and more time. This one is probably the best of the batch. Comments and critiques welcomed and appreciated.

1Ds Mark III + 85mm f/1.8 with a 580EX II inside of a softbox. ISO320, f/2, 1/8 second.

Shoot it again... nothing worse than being rushed that way. Technically the photo's pretty good but does have some issues. My biggest problem is the model's facial expression which doesn't convey what I'd be looking for in this kind of shot. YMMV.

Will,

I understand you wanting another shot at it, for artistic reasons.

However, I think this photo is more than good enough to serve it's purpose.

The woman is exceptionally beautiful, and despite her unkempt hair the photo sure captures my eye. I rather like her expression. It's kind of "girl next door." Very inviting.

Jet editors can surely look past the hair.

Nice. I like the mouth, hair looks good as well. Perfection is over rated, this looks like she really is at the beach.

One good thing about being rushed is that you don't have time to over produce and screw it up 8-]

A good result for the time constraints. Nice pink glow of the background seems to be centered around her head. Looks very well set up. I don't see any damage from the slow shutter speed. I think you can run with this one if the second shoot doesn't happen.
