Well...this is certainly different. It's really hard for me to comment since I never see anything like this...but I will try. I believe IMO that for printing on a canvas or etched paper, this is fantastic. otherwise the PP is too much if you are just trying to post it on the web or so.

I am not usually a fan of excessive post processing but for these images I think the painting style effect looks great and they would probably make nice prints.

I like 'em - they have rich color, texture and an "old world" feel to them. 1st composition is very nice - I suspect it would look nice with any number of different interpretations. Good work.

Thanks Sam, yes putting these type of images on the web is hard because you loose most of the texture effect. I met a photographer who printed this type of imege in cancas and other mediums and then he would work some more with traditional paints, I may try that.

I agree about losing much of the texture, but still very nice.

Thanks Jim! Well every project is different but it is all done with layers, I use Painter 8 and Photoshop, I also use Corel knock out for the second photo to isolate him from a very busy background. I usually paint the effects in instead of applying globally the textures. Sometimes I repeat the brush strokes in Painter as texture in PS and I emboss some other in CS2.I am still trying many things because this were projects to see if I could do natural media digitally.

Thank you! I thought the best medium would be cancas for a print them but someone suggested some of the many choices in watercolor or art papers.I will see, thanks.

Andres if you have a nice printer, get some Hahnemuhle German Etching or Canvas to try it out on. It could even look good on some good Photo Rag paper with a nice matte surface.

Thanks, I still struggle with the web conversion the sRGB seems to take saturation and contrast out of the originals.

Hi Chris, I still use Painter 8 and CS2, I try to use both; Painter has a lot to offer and I am barely tapping all its possibilties. I am so glad I have a tablet, it would have been very difficult to me to do it with a mouse.

Thanks Chris! I have and old Epson 1270 but still prints beautifully. Well, if I compare it tho the new printers I may change my mind

I will look into German Etching, first I need to balance my system again, I am reading about soft proofing and color calibration right now. Everybody seems to love Hahnemuhle media, do you prefer it than Epson papers?

Yes, what is your post processing procedure for getting that canvas painted look. These are SUPERB!! Be sure to include size and resolution stats...

The second one - this one gives me the creeps - those eyes - that rope...

Hi Phil! Thank for your comment! Ok, I found out that busy backgrounds detract from this type of work so I isolate the main characters, in the second one I created a background in Photoshop. I used a camel impasto brush in Painter to add texture and color to te background. I reused this file as texture to emphasized the brush strokes, I appled rusted paint photos of mine and peeling paint either as softlight or overlays layers. I sample the colors and used PS brushed to retouch the final file I then use Nik sharpener to selectively sharpen the final piece. I work at 240 or 300 dpi usuallly but for these ones I used 150 dpi.

Here it is "Here is another digital painting of a peasant in the Andes. Cabrito means little goat, he was being teased by his friends because he forgot to tied his goats and they fled, he was defending himself by saying " No the rope is for my wife! " Everybody bursted in laughter because the women are the head of household in this parts,they are the boss; they command the family. I tried to capture his sheepishly expression and the fun of the situation. "
