This is a very nice camera. It does have very good image quality, but you need good light. It reminds me of the 100-400mm. Both behave similarly.
I have been shooting my 7 month old baby inside my house and the 50d is definitely not a low light camera.
But on the rare occasions where I happened to shoot in direct sunlight, the results were very good.
Just like the 100-400.
However, I came from a 1DMIII, so take this with a grain of salt as I am kind of spoiled...

anyway, the exposure, quality of light matter a lot
that looks like mine. Its all about proper or at least decent exposure.
