p.1 #1 · EF28/1.8 vs. EF50/1.8

I had some doubts about picture quality, namely sharpnes, of my new EF28/1.8 USM since I have trade-in this for my old EF35/2 as upgrade.
From my pictures seemed to me that sharpnes generally was not as expected for prime lens, specially with apertures f8 - f9. I was used to get very sharp images produced by EF35/2, so this was surprising to me. Unfortunately I can not compare those two now (EF35/2 has gone) but I have tried some sample shots with other prime I have with close focal length - EF50/1.8II.

I have tried those two lenses and took some portrait pictures with studio lights at f9 and 1/200s. exposure. When looking at pictures on PC, it seemed to me that EF50 pictures are little sharper. Then I have made comparison test shots with available light whose result you can see here:

I would be glad to see your comments or possibly your experience with EF28/1.8.
