p.1 #1 · Top of Swansea Mt - In the Fog

3 shots from the top of Swansea Mountain.

The light did not work (not very interesting colors) so I tried these mood shots with the fog.

Do they work?

1 - f16 1/4s iso100 105mm CP tripod

2 - f16 0.3s iso100 10mm CP tripod

3 - f16 1/20s iso100 10mm CP tripod

I like number 2 best - the textural contrast between the rocks and the organic texture of the trees with the fog above.

Hi Scott.
Nice to see more of your landscapes.
Others reading/lurking should check out the images Scott posted on the Landscape forum!
1. Nice layering of the clouds, mountain, well-composed. Color/saturation appears a bit off (sorry to be vague). Not enough interest, but nice shot.
2. Nice sharp, colorful foreground contrasts well with the clouds and fog. I like this.
3. This could be the best; but the burnt out sun and halo surrounding it is just too large and comes across as a blob. I assume you have already done what you can to recover any highlights, adjust exposure etc over the sun. Otherwise, nicely framed, nice saturation, detail, light on the foreground, etc etc.

Thanks Scott - yes I spent a bunch of time on 3rd but could not recover the sun - maybe I will retry later with some layers - this was my intended best but the sun was just too strong. One first - Now that I see the trees in the first they look too light a green and need more brown - thanks.

Hi Scott,

I really like #2, especially the richness of the firs.

#1 looks a little soft to me, and #3 a bit over sharpened in the foreground.

Lovely vista, as you always portray...

My 2-cents...really just picking nits
