I took this macro of my eye the other night. I used a charcoal filter on the background and left the iris alone. The only mods on the color: Brightness and a little saturation.

Love you hear your opinions. There is a lot of fantastic work on this site!

all seriousness aside, that's a cool idea.. I haven't fiddled with the artistic filters yet, but there's obviously a lot of potential in there..

did you change the color of your eye at all? It looks different from a human eye.. are you a lizard? :-)

I couldn't resist the love thing when I posted!

Thanks for the feedback. I have seen lots of stuff with eyes, but I think it is hard to find a way to get the eye to look "good" up close. They really aren't all that attractive when you get tremendously close.

The large, round black center of the eye is not my pupil, it is the reflection of the camera lens. I actually had my eyelashes touching the lens to get this shot. I used a mirror so I could see the LCD on the back of the camera for positioning my eye. Then I used a remote to focus and fire the camera. I used the onboard flash with a piece of plastic (the top of a can of coffee) to diffuse the light. I took about 30 shots and got about three that were even workable. I have to find an easier way to do it, like get an assistant!

The only mods to the eye color were brightness and saturation. The saturation really brought out the pattern structure of the iris.
