My first decent BIF

The afternoon after Edouard blew through, I went for a walk in the ditch in the neighborhood. Walking paths on both sides and 3 pedestrian bridges have made some of the birds a little more used to humans. So I was able to get within range of my 70-200 plus 1.7TC.
Slightly cropped, slightly photoshopped. Hope you like it.

Nice shot Bill,

but you might be able to improve it a tad in post by making it a tad less bright - you may recover a little more detail in the whites of the Great Egret by doing so.

Sharp shot. Aren't they amazing...

Congratulations

Your persistence has nicely paid off! You did a great job panning and following this egret. As Lil mentioned, tone it down a bit to bring in some more detail or feeling into the brighter whites. You've got a good background too! Shot does look very sharp, so congrats to you

Very nice! I like the blurry background. You certainly locked-onto this Great Egret.
Congrats on your 1st "decent" BIF, may it be the start of many more...

Best Wishes,
Steve

Great shot of the Great Egret! Never would have guessed this was your first decent BIF shot! I especially like the detail on the Egret's feet. This is the first time I've viewed talons on the Great Egret. Hope to view more BIF shots!

Thanks all. I'll try to tone down on it some, but when I was trying to give an "S-curve" in the extreme top (brights), I noticed that the whole bird was quite well away from the blown-out range, but I was having an "L" of a time getting any details along the back and upper wing. I'll revisit it. That's the nice thing about using adjustment layers, no?

Hi, Gene. Yeah, those talons are intimidating, aren't they? I guess they need strong anchors for those lightning sword-thrusts. Thanks for the kind words.

Good panning job Bill, Egrets in flight can be a problem with light and details expecially on their backs, sometimes simply darkening the highlights slightly helps.(Sometimes not )

PS Are you from the SE Texas area?
