p.1 #1 · Pick 1 / Pardon the Pun / Many Picks

In responce to a previous post I did.
http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/665393/0#5938721

Im hoping to elevate my effort to an A+ and Hope Anthony / 'Floral King' finds one he likes. I returned many times not really happy with the results. This trip I took the 135 L / with and with out 12MM tube (1 to 4 foot working distance).

I dont have to bend over to shoot these guys now as they are 4ft + tall, back lit, front lit, Direct Sun color cast, and trying to keep things some what soft / with boque.

I am not a flower guy - but I enjoyed the series and think #8 is the best of the bunch.

Wow big improvement over your last shots !! HUGE improvement Keith!!
I have many I like here !! But I'm not the TRUE floral King you should seek out the humble opinions of the "TRUE" Floral Kings (And they know who they are)

Just remember that DOF is a bit subjective to the viewer. Isolation is Key in "Most Shots", composition is also subjective to the viewer.......... So everyone's opinions on each of these may vary........ take em with a grain of salt / apply the ones you think fit for your taste!!

I like number 1 but I'm not sure the composition is working for me. See what others think too

Number 2 is to tight of a crop >> No room to breath

Number 3 I kind of like it ...... I kinda don't. Some of the really bright purples are over powering to me and I just don't like the EXTREME difference in brightness in different parts of the image..... Hope that makes sense.

Also really like 8, 10, and 11

but 12 is really a great shot ........ it's flatter so DOF is perfect, back ground is perfectly OOF and smoooooth, Well lit, good color, Almost a perfect image if it weren't for the 1 messed up Pedal....... But does that matter?? I like this shot the best out of the series but feel a bit so so on the horizontal leaf. I think it ads a nice feel to the shot and at the same time I wonder how it would look without it....... Either way I like it

Good work and One heck of an improvement buddy !!
Great job

Keith that is one heck of an improvement, you stepped it up 10x over from the original post. I am glad you waited for these to bloom out more as I mentioned too. They are now like a fireworks explosion

I like your choice of glass for these too 135L is one I would like to try sometime!

Pics #2,8......similar type shots and I think your best representation of this flower the Cleome or Spider Flower as we know it. The dramatic pinks with the white stand so well against the green foilage in the BG. However you crowded the frilly tentacles that arch outward which add a great deal of drama to the flower. At the end of these will develope the long slim seed pods. Take these shots an back away to allow the whole flower and bingo, that is it! Do your best to find some space behind one of these so that BG even goes softer if you can

Awesome flower and again perhaps one of the most difficult IMO. So, to sum it up, allow this flower to breath, stay with verticals on these, and I don't think the warm light helps them because it muddies up the whites and pinks. So #8 is I think your best and by the way #3 keeps me looking too!

Keith, great efforts and great results........keep it up

Karl.............a study under the Floral King.............

I'm not a floral guy either but I think 1 & 12 are fine photos, for what they are, pictures of flowers.
