p.1 #1 · Bald Eagle for Karl

Sold my 100-400 and have been waiting for my 300 f2.8 to arrive, plus working on my eagle book.
First shot with the 300, especially for Karl.

Ah, ask and ye shall receive! Thanks, and glad to see you surface again A very different angle for you, did you move the blind? That is a tight shot and stopped down at f/4, that must be different Good luck on the other project Tony!

Ah, so THAT's what you've been waiting for. Now I understand Great shot and, from initial appearances, a great lens!

Thanks, Karl. Shot from same blind, but no zooming back, now results in a tight crop when they are on that log. This eagle was really wary and spent a lot of time staring down my lens. Maybe with the larger front element he could see his reflection. I also did not have the lens hood on. Have to get some black material on it.

Thanks, Ken. Was hoping to get some shots with my 1.4x and 2x TC's as well, but this guy did not hang around. The poor man's 500-600 should work out okay.

WHAT.... you sold your 100-400. Oh, you had such a great sharp copy of that lens. I'm sure you will love the 300... just not the versatility.
And whats with doing a book? How are you going about it? I am very interested in the process.... and what you plan on doing with the book when you are done. Sounds like a great project, and you certainly have the eagle shots to do a book.

Shelley, I don't have the versatility now, but I now have two lenses that are even sharper and will focus better and faster in low light, the 70-200 f4 and the 300. Plus, they both produce sharper results with TC's.

As for the book, have a look at:

PM or email me if you want more info on how to produce your own book.

Congrats on your new lens Tony. I will follow your posts very closely especially when you start using the 1.4 and 2x as I have a similar lens. I had an opportunity to photo some eagles at an eagle park recently in France and posted them here but I would love to photo them in the wild. Must be a great experience.
This is a great action image. Well captured! Good luck with the book.

Way to go Tony but I wonder if Johnny Bravo will see this Are you prepared
You should have kept the 1 to 400 as it was good to you for a long time. Its a nice lens as over the years I have had two of them but opp for the 500. You will like this lens for what you do. And as for the book have you mastered the CD with the slide show and music Good luck with it

Awesome shot Tony, and congrats on the new lens. That shaded area should be a little bit easier to deal with now.
