p.1 #1 · LR2/ACR4.5 color issues

Hi everyone, I wonder if you can help.

I've been using both LR2 and CS3 trials to decide which to purchase, and have made some edits in CS3's ACR4.5 with the new camera profiles. I have also installed these profiles into LR2.

I made the edits in Adobe RGB color space in ACR and have the histogram graph showing the extremes at the edges of the histogram (as I wanted them). However, on importing the same CR2/xmp file into LR2's develop module, the histogram looks totally different - shoved up to the right and with the left extreme nowhere near the left hand end of the histogram. As both are powered by ACR4.5, shouldn't they be identical?

Any input greatly appreciated.

Alex.

The color space when working within LR is a form of ProPhoto RGB, which has a wider gamut than Adobe RGB. This may be part of the problem. Although if comparing a RAW image in LR to a rendered image in PS the histo will look different. But one would think, if all development settings are equal, the histo in ACR should be quite similar to LR.

irrespective of whether the histograms match, and they should be quite close, you will end up getting both eventually, so the real question is which to get first.
