They are both very nice shots, Chad, with the second being my favorite. Great colors and detail. Man, that beak is huge. As somebody said, their beak can hold more than their belly can.
Socrate

P.S.I don't see any "nuptial tubercle" bump on the beack, so I gather Anthony wasn't with you.

Nope nothing got wet ... Ok maybe Ant did, he was on the front of the boat when motoring around, it was kinda bow heavy Thanks!

Very impressive. I always find birds with white feathers extremely hard to expose for properly. You've done a great job here.

Thanks for the kind words

I like the second shot the best also, they were both close in the running to get printed, but the second is taking the lead. Thank you!

That's some gorgeous work in post, Chad. Love the deep rich colors and the feather details are sublime. Some of the best I've seen of this species.

Wonderful photos, Chad! The extreme sharpness of the pictures brings out detail that would otherwise be lost. The color is also brilliant.

He buddy, I didn't know that about their beak I wish that were true with me Yep, the pelican never looked over at Ant, but if he did.. you can bet there would have been a big bump starting to form. Thanks for the time.

Beautiful shots Chad, and superb PP too.

I noted in your EXIF that thse were at 700mm so is this the 500mm + 1.4x on the dMkIII? Also can you please help me with another querry, does the 500mm +1.4x auto foucus when used on the 30D?

Yes it does Mohammad. Since 500mm has a lager max aperture than f5.6 the AF will work on a crop body too.

Yep, the 500mm with the 1.4x on the Mark III. Jude already commented on the focus, and yes it works but not as fast as with a 1D series camera.
