After hearing brainiac and several others tout the OM 40/2 for so long I finally got a copy and I have to agree, it's near perfect:

Here are some quick shots wide open with my Minolta 28 f2 lens I just got yesterday just held up to my 1ds3. Now need to work on the conversion.
Very sharp so far and like the colors like my Rokkor 58.
Now have to work on the conversion.
Always wondered how do you manage to do that Wayne
Holding the lens in front of the camera, manual focusing and stopping down the lens all in the same time.
Thanks. She's great. She showed up about two years and three months ago, whereas the Oly showed up today. I had to take it for a spin around the block.
Pretty sure the first two are wide open. The third is either wide open or f/5.6.

Need to preset the aperture and the focus distance, hold then lens up against opening and then take picture and see if it you need to change the focus distance. Two or three pictures later I got it.
There we go with that 50mm standard lens looking good again ... and WAY TOO MANY of them to choose from.
Well, not if you're a Nikonian. The 50/1.2 is superior to the 50/1.4 AF-D and AF-S in my opinion. It's very versatile when it comes to bokeh, since it's quite smooth at f/2. At the same time, it is extremely sharp at f/2. The modern ones are not even close at the same aperture.
Actually I don't like the 50 mm focal length. But I still enjoy forcing myself to use it. It was the only lens I brought today, and I will probably do the same tomorrow.
