A stupid picture, and sorry for the close up, but I love the Zuiko 28/2 on film. On digital it vignettes a whooole lot, but for an SLR wide the blur is really nice... or maybe just not bad.
Flare was very intentional and very avoidable... had to work hard to get it in the shot.

I have not been too active here at FM for while, but just can't seem to stay away. While I was gone it seems a Johnny come lately has emerged as the King of 85's and has been dubbed the Samylux. I have MC R 85 1.7 also, and love the way it renders. I have thought of selling the Rokkor and picking up the Samy, but I can't do it. The Rokkor is truly the big brother of the wider 58mm

That might be just a bit of an overstatement. Let's say that the Samyang has established itself as a quality lens at a price point where, frankly, you cannot possibly expect to get a fast prime; So it is without question the VFM King of the Hill. But the "best" 85 is as far as I know quite another matter, and trying to establish whch is which will involve direct comparisons with the best Canon, Zeiss, Leica, Nikon, etc...

+1 as much as I like the Samyang, I can't seem to let go of the Rokkor 85/1.7. In fact, I would probably be more apt to let go of the *gasp* Rokkor 58/1.2... Although that may be because outside of zooms, I now have 5 lenses in the standard range and only 3 in the 85mm range.
Helimat, Its funny you say that because I did just that, I was out of work for a whole year, and had picked up several 58's all under $175...and the return was just too great, I had 1 mint in box that sold for $600.00. I do miss my 58mm and have been looking, but I am afraid that almost everyone now knows the value of this these little jewels. At least I still have that awsome awesome bokeh. I even sold my c/y 85 1.5 after shooting with the Minolta.
This is a very sad picture. I was not able to set the bird free, since there were some people around who might have been the ones who have placed the net. This is happening in a public park in the city of Guangzhou in China.
Hi to everybody,
this is one of my very first Pentax K20D and kit lens test shots.
I think that this lens shows a good bokeh, although this is not one of his best attributes.
Pentax smc-DA 18-55/3.5-5.6 AL II (K20D lens kit): 55mm @ f/8.
Instead, this is my favorite lens for bokeh, currently.
It's the Tamron SP 90/2.5 macro: all these shots are at @2.5, unprocessed.

*snip*
It is indeed very sad... if you see the net there again, perhaps report it to authorities? It's got to be illegal to trap wild birds in a public park, even in China.

$600?! Wow, I thought the value had leveled out around $400-450 on the Rokkor 58.
I really am torn, at both the standard and 85mm focal lengths.

I have to say, you have some ridiculous lenses, Robert.
No what's really ridiculous is going out on a cold snowy frosty day, with the Canon 5D MKII with 200mm F1.8 over my shoulder, the Oly 250 mounted on tripod while walking the dog.
I am truly jealous of your legendary collection, Robert. Not so Jealous of your prairie winters though... Hasn't dropped much below +5c here since early November.
