p.1 #1 · Backyard Birds - Cardinal and Nuthatch

Just a few backyard birds from around the feeder from last week. The cool thing about the shots is that I was using a 500mm with a TC, and 3 of the shots were taken with a shutter speed of 1/80! Not bad on a 700mm lens.

1/80th! I hope you had a major tripod working for these shots... ?

I like the first nuthatch shots.

Some nice shots Jason, not used to seeing a nuthatch upright, always amused with their upside down antics. Great cards

Jason, 1/80? You must have told the birds to hold very still! I really like the cardinal peaking around the feeder. It pays to break the rules now and again.

#4 is my pic, I would guess it to be a young cardinal.

These are really good captures. To bad the birds show signs of molting which takes away some of their beauty. I have the same problem here. . You did a very good job though as these images are clean and sharp and colors are very good.

The nuthatches have been looking particularly scruffy in our neighborhood. They just started coming back to the feeder in the last few weeks, so I am hoping they will stick around.
