First, a quick note:
I'm relatively new to the Wedding Forum. I started lurking last year when a good friend of mine browbeat me into shooting her wedding. (I went through all of the usual "you should really find someone who specializes. . ." protestations, but she wouldn't give up. I relented, but was paid.)
I was -- quite honestly -- stunned when I came across this forum and saw what you folks were doing with weddings. Very inspiring.
Anyway, I ended up really enjoying shooting the wedding, and have another one coming up (for another friend, who wasn't even planning on hiring a photographer at all). So I'd REALLY appreciate any feedback you might have.
first time? not bad at all. You missed the focus in at least one of the shots above, but that's all about learning to deal with the motions (and knowing how fast your glass will correct them). Colors are good, 9 & 10 are favs-- capturing emotion is key, and while I wouldn't say the others are missing it, these two are full of it.
Thanks for the comments! The color was a real toughie for me on some of them -- the ceremony was under trees on a sunny/hazy day under an orange chuppah/canopy. Sheesh.
Timing is definitely something I'm trying to work on -- I haven't yet figured out how to watch what's going on all the time so I don't miss key moments. I guess one thing is to be able to anticipate what's going to happen, which I assume (hope) will come with practice practice practice.
My wife has actually taken up the habit of suddenly counting down from 5 when I'm least suspecting it, forcing me to grab the shot in focus and well exposed on "1." Good practice, but she gets far too much enjoyment out of it.
