p.1 #1 · Mormon wedding advice???

I have a Mormon wedding coming up, and was wondering if anyone on the forum has any experience. Of course I can't be in the temple for the wedding, so their photos will start as they exit the temple to greet their friends.

Any particular things I need to be prepared for? Any advice?

Thanks!

Be ready to shoot the couple when they come out of the temple....there will be NO warning or anything.....they just come out.......after that, it's all up to you......shoot to your hearts content...................as you know, there are no shots inside.........

See if you can get someone in the family to go inside and see how long before the couple walks out.........that way you don't get surprised............

There will be other families and photographers waiting outside as they do multiple weddings together inside.........

When i showed up for mine, i saw alot of people waiting around and some photographers.........i assumed they were there for my wedding couple......so i took my spot......waiting, and waiting.......and waiting..........then i asked one of the photographers if he was there for my clients wedding................he was there for a different wedding..................duuhhhhhhhhhhhh

They like pictures with the Temples in them, walls, doors, spires and the whole building. Pictures usually are in full sun so you will need fill flash. Their can also be large family pictures with 30 to 50 people.

This has been all good advice. 50% of my weddings are like this. Just visit my site, I got plenty in my portfolio.

If you have time, go down on a Friday or Saturday and observe how it is done. Lots of people get married there so there is usually someone (often several) taking pictures of other couples. Bear in mind that there will be relatives and others with cameras taking shots as well. Still, you will be able to move the couple to other locations around the temple. Enjoy, but keep in mind the challenges of the lighting relative to the time of day for the sealing as they are done at all hours of the day.

temples are very important, so make sure you've got plenty of shots with the building as a backdrop (full building). Visit the temple before the shoot, the grounds are open daily and most temples have beautiful gardens surrounding them- visiting beforehand will give you a heads up on what's available. The sun will be your biggest issue, plan accordingly.

Thanks everyone. You're all right on with the advice. These will be 4pm shots, so the sun will definitely be an issue. I'll have an AB800 and a Vagabond, so I plan to move around the grounds quite a bit. We should have an hour or more for photos around the grounds so I feel good about timing.

I really didn't expect having to deal with multiple weddings at one time, that's a total surprise. Thanks for the heads up! And I'll try to swing by this weekend to get the lay of the land.

Thanks to all!

Which temple is it may I ask? Just curious. The day I got married, I think there were about 28 ceremonies that took place before 12 noon It was crowded to say the least!

The Washington DC Temple. Should be a great backdrop!

I never realize how majestic the LDS temples were and why would you NOT want to use them as a backdrop? With very few scattered… I can see why there are many weddings per-day (I’m also surprised there is NONE in Vermont; the birthplace of Joseph Smith).

I love the DC temple. Plenty of photo opportunities, you'll do great.
P.S. The site is ENORMOUS, like 50 acres, but it's mostly just wooded land.

There is one in Palmyra though. Temples aren't built just anywhere, especially just because someone in the church history had lived there

DC temple is just beautiful, would love to go back.
