Nice exposure and focus and good choice in depth. I think its too centred. Normally you would leave more space on the side his is looking into. Crop off the right is my suggestion.
I third that, but good photo none the less. Our Florida Zoo's you can't get them to come out on the rocks or out in general to save your life lol... They sit hidden because it's too damn hot!

Does appear more saturated than the previous version. Why?
The artifical rock appears too red/magenta, as does the rock behind him. I'd tone down the overall saturation and perhaps reduce those elements, making the rock more natural appearing.
I'll go with -rce- on this.
Maybe the rock is too red, I can't really say because I haven't seen an artificial rock in quite a while.
But I tend to like more saturated, contrasty images. :P (Contrasty probably isn't a word...)
And the second picture's crop is wayyy better and more interesting.
