here are a few images from earlier this spring. Please let me know what you think of the compositions. Landscapes are tough, and what might be interesting to me by just being there, may not intrigue others. Therefore, prior to publishing any of my work, I like to run it by the FM group to make sure that I'm not waisting my time. Really appreciate any and all comments.
Alan,
Not to worry, you have an excellent eye!
I like the first best. Nice greens, beautiful folds of the hillside, and I like just the hint of sky at the top.
Second, well-captured, nice lines/layering of land, water and fog, framed well. For my taste its missing just something more. I think its because I prefer more intense color or contrast. A matter of taste. Nice job.
Third, again nice lines, layers and framing. Frame overwhelms the presentation. I'd like to see it larger, with less "matting" to better assess. I'd be quite happy to have captured any of these!

I prefer #s 1 & 2: 1 - like the way the brook leads one into the image; 2 - very nice, perhaps clone out the object about 1/2 way up the slope on the rhs? Lovely countryside - you posted several some time back from the same area as the first, didn't you?
Alan, leave the saturation at default in Neutral picture style and it ought to be ok (i.e. realistic). Then just sort out the white balance to get the colours right.
#1 is my pick. Reminds me of where I used to hunt rabbits years ago. The light coming down from right effectively side-lights the hill and adds interesting texture. It works very well. Does changing to Daylight WB make any difference to the colours ?
The others lack the benefit of direct sunlight that would lift the colours somewhat. The misty effect works well in #3 (like in those Chinese paintings of hills beyond other hills, getting progressively fainter in the distance) but in #2 I have a personal bias that wants to see the scene lit up better without the haze. You've certainly captured the scene well enough but I'd rather a different capture.

Now that I look again at #1, I believe that you are correct Scott -attached is a new version, which is less intense, and consequently, more pleasing - agreed?
