New Computer Help

I am in need of a new computer very soon that will be used in my photography business as well as form home use by me. I have always had PC's and am pretty comfortable working on them, but given that I am looking for the best computer to process pictures I am starting to think about Apple. I would primarily use the computer for Photoshop CS3, maybe Lightroom, some accounting software and e-mail. Are the Apple computers that much better for photography type applications?

I would love to hear from people that have owned both and why they feel one is better than the other. Also, I have no idea what Apple computers would make a good power desktop.

Thanks for your help.

Tim

There isn't much of a difference. If all the software yeh need, runs on an apple go for it.

Having been a PC "only" user I bought an Apple nine months ago, it is a nice machine however in my case I prefer using PC when it comes to processing photos.
note I am not a professional.
You will most likely have to buy photoshop or whatever you use to be compatible for Apple which will be an extra expense. If you are happy with PC then my advice would be to stick with it.

CS3 is the same on both platforms.

Ok, sounds like there really isn't a large benefit from switching over to Apple then. Given that I will probably stay with the PC as it would be cheaper as I wouldn't need to buy the software again.

Thanks,
Tim

FYI Adobe will allow the owner of the software to switch platforms for the cost of shipping. I have done it ands its pretty easy.

I agree the software is basically the same on either platform, If you are comfortable with your current system no need to change.

There is little advantage in one over the other in the larger picture any more. It's become a personal preference choice like Coke/Pepsi, Ford/Chevy, etc. If you're familiar and happy with PC, I'd say stick with it & build up a new PC--just stay with XP for now.
