As I was walking along the bank this Northern Flicker flew up out of the grass and settled in a tree in front of me. This is the first time I have seen one in the wild

Finally I posted this picture before and thought it was an Eastern Phoebe but now Im not sure. Can anyone help me with the ID?

love 'em with the habitat Greg
I too believe Eastern Phoebe....they have that bit of ivory breast color
Thank you both for the quick reply and kind words. I thought it was a phoebe but the top of the head in the first shot made me doubt myself as it looks somewhat tufted. IT may have been the wind on the feathers or the bird giving me a dirty look!
Very nice series Greg. That is one pretty GBH, love the wave to you #4 is my fav of these. Nice shots of the flicker, love their markings and a very cute Phoebe. Did you ever see any Kingfishers?? Good luck on those next time
Greg, nice series, wonderful images. That second of the heron scratching, I have a shot of one doing the same thing but my angle sucked, you nailed it. Nice flicker and phoebe, flickers are one of my favorites (I seem to have a lot of favorites!)

Thanks Karl
No kingfishers on that day. I heard one but he was too far off for me to try and find. Im really hoping to find his nesting hole so I can set up a blind
