The adults from last year, returned to the same exact nesting spot this year, and just like clock work, the little ones hatched right on time, the first one hatched on Saturday night or Sunday, Mother's Day. These were taken this morning, and 2 of the 4 were out for a stroll. Unfortunately, they chose to stroll down the side of a road, lined by 6" high curbs. Hopefully they will be ok. Here are a few, hopefully more to follow in the next couple of days. Thanks for looking.
Utterly funny looking chicks Doug! what's that thing coming out of its butt in #4 looks like a 3rd leg or something
Nice sharp, low-angle captures
I like #3 the most!

Leave it to Nello to be staring at a "CHICKS BUTT"
Doug, these are great, I kinda like the concrete as a bkg. looks neat with the bokeh. I also like how you can see the tooth on the beak. Great job, and your usual funny looking subject matter.
Very nice series Doug. I was just on vacation and there was a kildeer nesting in our rental home in the driveway with 4 eggs. Wish I could have seen those chicks hatch.

Thanks Nello. Rather than use their beaks to crack the egg open, some Kildeer chicks come with a mini crowbar to assist them in their escape.
