does anyone know of a good proofing service that is easy to upload images and can be customized to you own website?

Smugmug works well and can be customized to look like a website. I've had really good luck with them, but am finding that it doesn't give you a great "elegant wedding" look. As far as customer service goes though, SmugMug is great.
