D60 or D80?? | |
Depends on what you want.
A nice used D200 will be +/- $900
A new D80 body can be had for $650 right now.
Both, arguably have the same 10mp sensor, although there are some minor differences.
The D200 is a larger/heavier body than the D80, not important unless you hike to your destinations a lot as I do. Sometimes I look at the D300 and think "forget it!"
But, the question is D80 or D60.
I've had a 2 D40x's, 2 D80's, and also have a D300
I originally sold my D80 when I bought the D300, then bought a D40x as a supplement to it.
But, I was always missing things (as mentioned above) that I had become used to on the D80: the internal grid lines, 11 focus points, DOF button, the internal focus motor for my 50mm and 20mm lenses, Raw plus (your choice) fine/normal/basic JPEG, the two control wheels, two button reset, two button format, the ability to use the Nikon wireless flash...
So I ended up selling the D40x, then rebuying the D80 instead. I'm much happier with the D80. I personally think its a really nice camera, as all the Nikon D series bodies are truthfully.
Now if the D80 was still going for $875 and the D60 was $550, maybe I'd think D60, but the price spread right now between the "old" D80 and the new D60 is so small and you seem to get so much more.
I am comparing to the D40x of course, but the consensus is that the D60 is pretty much a D40x with a couple more bells & whistles.
