p.2 #1 · Swans with the CHAD BAG !!

Jude,

Nice pictures Anthony. After seeing Lou’s advice I asked my wife to stitch a “Chad Bag”. Now she wants to visit Lou’s wife to learn how to make a “Chad Bag”. I calculated the cost of my bag. It sums up to $2505 [Airfare($2000)+ expenses ($500)+ material cost ($5)].
Jude

I think that was Tony (Imagemaster) that was going to have his wife stitch one up for him. But the way your going that's definitely going to be one expensive bag
Thanks Jude

Chris,

Super, Anthony, these are all excellent! The swans and the stilt too. Thanks for sharing, although I have to say maybe you gave us too much information on the "Chad bag," I think we should keep that to ourselves in the future ...
Chris

Well I kept getting PM's asking me "Exactly what is a Chad Bag and where can I get one"
So I thought I'd clear the air.......... Sorry if that bothered you Chris, but the PM's were piling up on MY END and I wanted to slow em down a bit.

So Anthony - which shots were made with the chad bag?
I suggest to use an angle viewfinder to make it easier when you're flat on your chest
Now the practical question: will the chad bag work for 300 F4 or is it only designed for 500+
all images are very appealing, Anthony!

I see they just renamed this bag on their site to the "Chad bag" JK,

Wow I just read this thread and cracked up, on the comments about the bag. Socrate, you WIN that was too funny Jude, comes in a very close second place, his prize will be 10% off airfare

Anthony, the very low perspective is KEY, without a doubt this is what makes a great photo when photographing most animals, GREAT job on the Swans (invasive, ).

Tim, your right it does have its limited uses, but when you need it. it works great, Ron and I have been finding the tripod to be the same, great for static objects, but not so great for BIF shots, even with a wimberly.

PS HELLO... IT"S A "72" CHEVELLE NOT "74" lets get it right guys, your killing me here, they didn't make a 74 convertible 454 big block Rrrrr... Rrrrr...

I found it Anthony and they look great. As for a bean Bag that is old stuff so don't let Dave take any credit for it. Heck I used to use a bag filled with sand when I did bench rest shooting in competition most shooters did but the beans or rice are lighter. I now have one i made out of foam that is glued to a piece of wood so it swings while siting on the glass and best of all is my Kirk window mount but Jeze you can buy a new lens for what they cost and I never use it anymore since I went with IS. Either way Dave is 100% right about the van being a great blind as I also find my wagon the same way and I build a mount on the Outback roof rack to take my scope or a small lens + a kayak if I dare. Wildlife photographers have great brains for things like that but for myself not for other things.

No offense but why dont we give the creators of fabulous products there deserved credit.

Last I checked I wasn't renaming my Mark III and a 200 1.8 with a 1.4x to the HobbsCAM

If your going to mention something you bought call it what it is and lets not make up nicknames, it will be a lot more helpful to beginners. If you made it yourself...call it whatever you want but mention it so we arent left scratching our head trying to figure out how to buy the chad-bag or whatever silly name we have made up.

Its confusing enough to run into industry slang when you dont know what they are talking about.... but even worse to have fourm specific slang.

Google Chad bag and this is what you get

Nathan did you read Anthony's(the OP) opening paragraph....might read it instead of "silly" policing.
Anthony' tells what the bag is and where to get it.
This was just a bit of fun, no harm done

Hey Anthony... now I'm confused. Not about any of this stuff, I'm just... well, confused.

Hey, I've had a bag similar to that for about 10 years... I like it, but mine falls off the window cause it isn't as deep as yours. I might have to give this one a try.

It sure did you right with these shots. They are dynamite. I love the cygnets... beautiful little creatures. I know that these swans are not well liked because they are taking over our native birds, but it ain't there fault. They're just trying to live like anything else.

Good fun and great shots man.

All of these were with the Chad Bag.......... CHAD BAG!!
Some of these weren't as low angle as some of the others due to the Dam around the wetland / pond being so high. I would have liked to get down close to the water but this area doesn't want you to go off the path............ I respected their wishes

The CHAD BAG will work with any lens for sure. The main purpose is to allow you to rest the lens on the bag and eliminate any hand shake or movement giving you a very steady platform. If you go to the web site they show how it's used on the ground, from inside a vehicle, and on the hood of a vehicle. I shoot from all of these positions and can say the CHAD BAG excels in all areas >> I love my CHAD BAG

Glad you liked my photos and I hope this information helps................ If you have any more questions feel free to pm or email me

thanks Lou >> I thought Chad might be taking a little more credit than what was due. But seeing how his photos are so darn good > Who am I to argue You should post some pics of your Foam Rig for all to see >> Maybe we'll all be using Lou Pods next !!!
I've been wanting to buy a Inflatable kayak but just haven't taken the plunge yet. For my current situation a inflatable is my only option d/t space and ease of portability. With some of the inflatable's they are built for white water rafting and extremely durable. The jury is still out if it's stable enough to throw thousands of dollar in photo gear in it though. I guess it's all a great idea until you tip it over and all your gear is in the bottom of a pond / lake / waterway.

Thanks Lou

Well Terry You came to the right place >> My middle name is "Confused"
I really like the design of this bag. You can use both sides top or bottom to rest your lens depending on your shooting environment > Plus it hugs the window or both sides of your door pretty tight. Really a very versatile multi use bag.

Like I said before > the only invasive species is Mankind. Nature kept itself in balance until we came along.

I LOVE MY CHAD BAG

Thanks for the compliments on my pics > I respect your opinion and eye my friend.

OK Anthony I did it so here goes
OK Lou’s window cheap mount, and it floats. (6)
#1 bottom look, grove goes over glass, bolt head is for board and foam to swing side to side on. Foam glued to ¼ inch plywood
#2==3==4===5==6 self-explanatory on the window of my Outback. Tripod mount can be rotated out of way or removed. When done toss in back seat so when you need it again it will be there. It is ugly enough so no one will steal it.

Love that first shot Anthony! The rest aren't too shabby either. If I remember correctly, you dished out a lot of grief about me using a Bushhawk....and now you are using Chads Bag.....hmmm....

Great series, regardless of whose bag you were using!

Nice photos Anthony. My favorites are the first and the last, though the cygnets are very cute as well.

One warning re Chad Bag as a ground pod and Swans - they can get very aggressive and if your lying prone when they decide that you are a nuisance...

BTW, I've had a Chad Bag for a couple of years now and it's a MUST HAVE if you shoot from a car and great for air travel as well as you can just dump the beans and buy new ones when you arrive at your destination.

Lou, if you're adventurous... A friend of mine who is also a photog for National Geo, has in the past rigged up a Wimberly to drop down from the roof rack of a Land Rover Defender. This makes the ultimate, long-lens, car mount.

Thanks Ed but I also have a Kirk window mound and that will handel my 800 with no trouble but I really after giving up monitoring the eagles in New york don't use it any more. I do believe I have seen that mount somewhere on the web maybe not the same guy but it was a land Rover
