As a frequent reader but infrequent poster I hope this is okay to ask here---if not, please let me know and move me to the proper place or delete as necessary.
I typically work alone doing architectural shooting, business and location photography for many purposes and will be getting back into weddings and family portraiture as of this June.
Although all this is manageable, I am at the point where I (and my clients) would benefit from having one or more assistants available on some shoots both to help with gear and reflectors and in general to help the day go smoothly and efficiently for all. It makes my scheduling more complex, but I think its' the time has come for some help.
I'm in Concord NH and work within an approximate radius of 90 miles most of the time which encompasses a rather large area from Boston to Portland Maine to the NH mountains.
Can anyone suggest the best way to find people seriously interested either in becoming professional assistants or, of course, in doing some assisting as a means of learning? A general ad in many papers seems silly, but I don't know if there are professional associations that keep such lists etc or how to actually go about letting people know about this opportunity in hopes of meeting some responsible parties . I'm a past member of NHPPA but let it lapse since I have recently been concentrated on business related work rather than having a studio or doing consumer photography.
I bet that a bunch of you have faced similar situations at some point and would appreciate hearing how you went about your search.
