So I shot my very first engagement sessions yesterday. I'm shooting their wedding July 19th, and I would like some C&C on what I have so far please I have a lot more images from this shoot that still need to go through.
We went to the Coker Arboretum on UNC-Chapel Hill's campus for the shoot. I had a great time shooting this e-session, and I think they even had some fun. They were starting to climb trees!
My first reactions:
- decent poses, good use of DOF, decent composition
- the photos collectively are too cool from a color balance standpoint IMO (unless that was an explicit PP choice)
- #6 her face is lost in the shadows
- Several of them are a bit on the dark side and/or the black point was pushed too hard eliminating the mid-tones.
- the last one is the best one of the lot
Take my advice with a grain of salt, as I haven't done an e-session myself yet either
#3 - Could benefit from fill flash, as she is very dark. The bright background is distracting. Softbox off to the site would have been awesome!
#4 - He is lit better than her shot of the same pose, again background is distracting.
#6 - Fill flash needed again, her eyes are very dark.
#5 is my favorite. It might be your processing, but the faces look to be on the cool side.
Once I got home and started going through all the images I realized how much they could have benefited from some fill flash. *doh*
I also noticed know what I'm on a different computer the images do look a little cool, compared to when I was looking at them on my MBP. I'm pretty sure it's just from the processing, I will go back over it and see what I can fix.
