Great idea if I must say so myself. Obviously I like the concept. Couple of things with your shot, both with exposure: the upper right part of the picture blown out also several of the black pieces blend into darkness (may be intentional but would like to at least see outline.
I plan on redoing my chess shot, although keeping the concept, based on several comments.
There is something about basic wood chess peices and board, classic. My parents gave me mine 37 years ago.
