O.K. Amazon say that they have this lens available for US$979.00. Has anyone got one yet and if so what is the verdict? I got an email from a local shop(very reputable dealer) here in South Africa yesterday that the lens will be available here at the end of April for US$812.00. I find this strange as normally the prices here are MUCH higher. (Canon 100-400L IS US$2000.00). I generally believe that you get that you pay for and very much doubt that that we could be lucky enough to get a lens as good as the Canon 100-400 L IS for less than half the price. In the past I have had the Bigma 50-500 and sold it because of no OS/IS and the Canon 100-400 L IS and missed the extra range of the Bigma. The new Sigma may be just what I am looking for if the IQ is really good.
few people had preorder the lens and Amazon said it would ship April 10th..Well on the 10th they got an email said it will ship between May 26th -June20th I think those where the dates
Sigma will first ship a Canon model, the Nikon model will follow about a month later. MSP according to the German Sigma site is 899 euro for the 120-400 and 1099 euro for the 150-500.
