I had a wonderful time with this couple this weekend, another more "traditional" wedding with full ceremony/reception (unlike some of the more recent posts). Very awesome couple, fun to work with, and great locations. Beautiful day for a wedding
Carraig was my 2nd, first time having a 2nd shooter there. Big help, and props to him! I'll be doing his wedding in the Virgin Islands (come this May for the e-session, you WONT want to miss!)
Light is a set of strobes on opposite ends of the room. Cross lit. Light to camera left is probably 2/3 stop brighter than the other. Worked out beautifully.
The only one I really don't see much point to was the flowers down the aisle shot. When I see that shot and I see something at the end of the flowers it makes sense...just not here?
Let me ask you this...Where did you get that guest book printed at? I have considered doing that but haven't seen a place that had print paper for the print and regular paper to be easy to write on on the right like that.
Thanks again everyone for the comments, especially all you guys
The book was done by a local lab that just started doing the StoryBook albums. They were a bit pricey, but they turned it around in 3 days and have great customer service.
I was going to use Zook's Photo Book as it's the same size I wanted for almost half the price, but I read that they laminate them; hence not being able to write on it. I should call them and see if they can NOT laminate it.
I absolutely love your work. Solid, well lit, colorful, and interesting! Your work is a excellent example of having the right equipment for the job and knowing how to use it.
#5: unflattering angle....not many people have a nice side profile...personal taste though
#6: her arm could use a little smoothing and I find the "blueish purply" thing below her elbow a little distracting.
#13: the double hand (beside the grooms right hand) throws me off a little
#17: looks soft to me and it looks like her face was "dodged" out a little too much (her right side/closest to the camera) hence the grain....I might be totally off though
#19: AWESOME moment captured!!
#30: I've seen that shot somewhere
Anyway great job..I am sure they will be super happy!!
As usual, stunning images! I love the way you light your receptions.

So are there any light modifiers on your strobes? They're just pointing at each other? Do you ever just point them straight to the ceiling if it's a light-colored ceiling?

#17 had a special PP effect I liked, a grainy Provia 800 type look. I usually show the couple the original too, just in case they don't think it's still sharp. No dodging, just natural light??
#30 Is this something that you've done before? I was struggling with a good macro as there wasn't anything I could use at the venue, then I saw her bouquet on the table and thought I'd play Great minds think alike then.

No, they are bare strobes with just a reflector, pointing into the top corner, not straight out into the crowd. This makes a much larger source than a bare bulb. Walls were white, but usually color doesn't matter unless it's a rich, vibrant color. Interiors are usually subdued hues (like browns or cremes). If the interior lighting is incadescents, then it even helps to "warm" the bounced light.
