Hello, I captured this image during a vacation. I was playing with long exposures. This was a 30second exposure.
Any guesses for what it is? This was taken on Newport, Oregon last 3/22.
I'm guessing a bug, but it would have to be fairly(?) bright to illuminate from that distance, no? Also, I didn't notice any strange light(s) when I was waiting for the shutter to close.

Newport Oregon? March 22?? Wasn't there a tragic shipwreck just off the coast 100 years ago to the day (Start scary music)
Bug sounds like a best guess to me.

That's interesting Steve. Any info/links to the shipwreck? I'm just curious, since I loved visiting Newport. My second time visiting (stayed at the Sylvia Beach Hotel, which is good fun for book lovers.)
Also, as an update, I've added a couple of more pictures that show the same view, without the light trail. You can see it here (toward the bottom of the link):
I'm curious that the light appears to go off (or start) from quite a distance, I would guess well over 100 yards. Its hard for me to imagine a bug emitting enough light to show up in the frame from that distance.
Looks like a couple of flying insects. One zooming down from the left of the frame, looping and then flying straight up in the middle and then out of the frame. The other starting where the bright light is (when the shutter opened) and flying towards the left of the frame. Both fairly close to the camera. The dark bits being the flap of their wings.
